The Piggery is an annexe attached to the back of the farmhouse, it has
its own front door with parking on the drive in front of it.
The accommodation has a small farmhouse kitchen with a cosy breakfast
area, worktop, fridge and a combi microwave/convection oven to cook
breakfast and simple meals.
There is a kettle, cafetiere, teapot and a complimentary tray of
coffees and teas and in the cupboards are crockery and cutlery, a
toaster and panini maker/grill.
The bedroom has views down the garden, through the smallholding and to
the Yorkshire Wolds, there are hens contentedly clucking about on the
field and you may even be able to see a pig or two.
There is a flat screen television in the bedroom with netflix, youtube and iplayer. There
is a new orthopaedic mattress on the double bed which is always
made up with fresh, crisp clean bedding, towels are provided and also a
basket of complimentary toiletries.
The adjoining bathroom has a spacious shower with a rainfall
shower head.
The village of Bolton is 10 miles from York, there are buses from the
village into the city centre or the park and ride is a good choice as
York can be very busy and parking expensive. Pocklington
is a small market town 3 miles in the other direction with a good
range of shops, supermarkets and
restaurants.
There is also a pub within walking distance, the Carpenters Arms in
Fangfoss just over half a mile away,
The nightly rate for a stay at The Piggery is £75 to
include a
breakfast tray for two with cereal, croissants, yoghurt, fruit and
orange juice.

We are very happy to take guests down the field in the mornings to feed
the pigs and show them the smallholding, there are sometimes fresh free range eggs available to collect too.
Our animals are very friendly and the kune kune pigs always up for a
scratch and maybe an apple, Harriet will have her mouth open ready to
be fed her pig nuts and Lola will even 'sit' for her breakfast.
Winnie the golden retriever will no doubt bound up to say hello and Phoebe
the tabby cat may be sunning herself somewhere too.

February 2018
In November 2015 we welcomed our first visitors at The Piggery, our very
first guests were met with a bottle of champagne and chocolates to
celebrate its opening.
Last year was full of bookings with guests from such far flung places
such as Chili, Indonesia and Australia, it was great to meet them all
and hear about their travels.
There were visitors who enjoyed coming down with us to meet and feed
the animals, those who held a chicken and scratched a pig or two and
there were those who just wanted to cosy up and enjoy the peace.
There were the lovely spanish honeymooners who left us a box of thank
you chocolates, the valentines day guests who cosied up with a bottle
of wine and a view of the snow on the Yorkshire Wolds, not to forget
the guests who escaped here time and time again.
The visitors book is full of great comments with everybody saying how
much they enjoyed the warm and comfortable accommodation, the fresh
free range eggs, feeding the pigs, the beautiful setting and our
hospitality.
Amazingly they all scored it very highly on Booking.com, with us
having a consistent overall score of 9.6 'exceptional', so a big thank you
to all of the guests who gave us such generous feedback. We
noticed also that we were regularly accommodating wedding guests (and
newlyweds) from the nearby Barmbyfield Barns, 2 1/2 miles away, an
absolutely stunning place to get married.
Here's hoping 2018 is as busy and sucessful for The Piggery.
See you soon xx
